TagIT ("we", "our", or "us") operates the TagIT mobile application and the scanowner.in website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.
  • Item Information: Names, categories, descriptions, and photos of items you register with QR tags.
  • Contact Preferences: Your preferred contact methods (notification, WhatsApp, phone call).
  • Payment Information: When you purchase tags or subscriptions, payment processing is handled by Razorpay. We do not store your payment card details.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Scan Data: When someone scans a QR tag, we record the time, approximate location (if the scanner permits), and device information.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the Service, features used, and session duration.

2.3 Location Information

We collect location data only when a QR tag is scanned and the scanner grants location permission. This helps tag owners know where their item was found. Location data is stored in association with the scan event and is visible only to the tag owner.

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To notify you when your QR tags are scanned.
  • To facilitate communication between tag owners and finders.
  • To process transactions and send related information.
  • To send push notifications about scan activity and account updates.
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information in these circumstances:

  • With Finders: When someone scans your tag, they see only the item name, category, your display name, and your custom message. Your phone number and email are never directly shared; contact happens through our notification system or via the contact methods you configure.
  • Service Providers: We use third-party services for hosting (Google Cloud), authentication (Firebase), payments (Razorpay), and notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Scan history is retained for 12 months. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Opt out of push notifications through your device settings.
  • Deactivate your QR tags at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Third-Party Services

Our Service uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, cloud messaging, and analytics.
  • Razorpay: Payment processing.
  • Google Cloud Platform: Server hosting.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Reverse geocoding of scan locations.

These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
